Zhang Tie Quan will make a return to the UFC cage in October when he meets Darren Elkins at UFC 136.
UFC 136 is scheduled for October 8 in Houston at the Toyota Center. A double-title main event will feature Frankie Edgar taking on Gray Maynard for the lightweight strap, while Jose Aldo defends against Kenny Florian at featherweight.
Quan last fought in the UFC at Australia, choking out Jason Reinhardt in the opening round to improve to 1-1 in the organization.
“The Mongolian Wolf” won his first 12 professional fights before falling to Danny Downes by decision in his second WEC fight. Quan fought at lightweight before dropping down to his current featherweight status.
Elkins earned a controversial upset victory over Michihiro Omigawa at UFC 131, improving to 2-1 in the company.
“The Damage” also just recently moved down to featherweight from lightweight. The Omigawa fight was his first at his current weight and came after a submission loss to Charles Oliveira that snapped a three-fight win streak.
With a stacked card already set for the event, which also includes a returning Chael Sonnen meeting Brian Stann, it is expected that the Quan-Elkins tilt will be on the preliminary card.
