Jorge Lopez, a welterweight prospect who last competed in Tachi Palace Fights, has signed a contract with the UFC.
Lopez announced on his Twitter account that he had finalized the deal with the UFC.
“It’s official! I’m signed to the biggest and best promotion in mma,” Lopez wrote. “I just signed signing my UFC contract. Thanks Joe Silva and Dana White.”
Lopez will not have to wait long to show off the skills he has learned while training and teaching with the Wand Fight Team, as he will meet Justin Edwards at UFC Fight Night 25: Battle on the Bayou on September 17.
Lopez has won 10 straight fights and is 11-1 overall as just a 22-year-old.
Wanderlei Silva, the leader of the Wand Fight Team, tweeted his excitement for Lopez Friday.
“Wandsports gonna have his first fighter In the UFC!” Silva posted. “Jorge Lopez received the contract yesterday and is now a UFC fighter. My future champion.”
