Kimbo Slice Makes Boxing Debut This Saturday

Kimbo Slice, who competed on The Ultimate Fighter and went 1-1 in his brief UFC career, will step inside the boxing ring this Saturday night.

Slice, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson, will meet James Wade (0-1) in a four-round featured bout at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma.

Slice took part on the 10th season of TUF, falling to eventual series champion Roy Nelson in the opening round. He went on to defeat Houston Alexander in his UFC debut, but was dropped from the roster after being defeated by Matt Mitrione at UFC 113.

Slice became an internet sensation thanks to his bareknuckle-fighting videos on YouTube. He was signed by Gary Shaw to compete in EliteXC, where he won three of his first four MMA bouts.

Despite a stunning loss to journeyman Seth Petruzelli, UFC president Dana White took a gamble on adding Slice to the reality-based series. The risk paid off in terms of the season shattering the previous record for ratings by a TUF show.

Allan Green, a participant in the “Super Six” Showtime boxing tournament, will also fight on the card, putting his 29-3 record on the line against Craig Gandy (7-4-1).

Currently, no broadcast plans for the event have been announced.
