UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is scheduled to take on former champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson next month at UFC 135, but he’s already eyeing a fight with Rashad Evans.
Evans defeated Tito Ortiz last night at UFC 133 to retain his number one contender’s status and will face the winner of Jones-Jackson once the dust settles. Clearly expecting to hold onto his belt through his first title defense, Jones Tweeted the following message after Evans’ impressive victory over The Huntington Beach Bad Boy.
“Nice fight, I’ll be ready :-)”
Jones predicted that Evans would take the bout over Ortiz via “dry hump” and, even though Evans looked better than ever in outclassing Ortiz en route to a KO victory, Bones broke down his performance into the following two words: “Same stuff”
Suga responded to his former training partner at the UFC 133 post-fight press conference.
“That’s fine, I mean, if it’s the same old stuff then that’s probably exactly why he didn’t wanna fight me the first time,” said Evans. “Jon knows what happens when we train and he knows if I’m focused and I’m strong and I’m healthy then he’s got a fight on his hands.”
