Strikeforce: Tim Kennedy Vs. Robbie Lawler

Round 1: They touch gloves and get set to go. Kennedy lunges in with a right and misses, but avoids Lawler’s counters. Kennedy lands a nice inside leg kick that throws Lawler off balance. Lawler moving more fluidly than Kennedy, he lands a nice right hand. Kennedy hits him low with a kick and they take a quick break. Kennedy dives for a takedown and Lawler sprawls easily. Kennedy goes in for another shot, which Lawler avoids, and they both trade hard shots from inside the phone booth. Lawler moving all over the place, but Kennedy takes him down off of a kick. Kennedy stays all over Lawler as he tries to scramble away, threatening to take his back more than once. Lawler fights him off and they return to their feet. Kennedy lands a nice lead left hook. The action slows briefly before Kennedy completes a nice double. Kennedy moves into side control almost immediately and takes mount with over thirty seconds to go. Kennedy loses his base and Lalwer fights to his feet. Lawler lands a few nice shots as the round closes and Kennedy fails on a takedown.

Round 2: Kennedy opens the round working a few kicks before shooting in for the takedown. Lawler sprawls and barely misses on a big uppercut. Kennedy keeping his range by using the kicks. Kennedy with a hard right hand. Lawler lands a glancing uppercut with bad intentions as Kennedy dives for the shot. Kennedy’s face is bleeding heavily as he fights for the takedown. He gets Lawler down against the fence in Lawler’s half guard. Kennedy’s face is painting the canvas. Lawler regains guard, but Kennedy lands more shots from this position than the other. Lawler fighting from his back, but Kennedy is keeping the pressure on with strikes from on top. The crowd grows restless. Kennedy starting to mix things up, going to the body as well as the head. Both men land shots before the bell.

Round 3: They touch gloves to start the final round. Kennedy standing in front of Lawler for longer already. He lands a right before trying to get the takedown, but Lawler avoids and resets. Lawler lands a nice right hand when Kennedy stops in front of the cage. Kennedy tries for another takedown that’s defended. Kennedy showing fatigue and Lawler looks to be stalking him. He tries a flying knee that doesn’t land clean. Kennedy gets tagged when he lunges in with a right hand. Lawler appears fresher than Kennedy, but he looks hesitant to unload. The crowd boos as the action slows; they’re just circling and staring presently. Kennedy tries to grab him but Lawler shakes him off. Good uppercut lands for Lawler but Kennedy remains intact. Kennedy throws a pair of kicks, the second lands to the body. Kennedy going to work with the kicks, landing to the body and inside of Lawler’s leg. Kennedy clinches Lawler against the fence, lands a knee and gets an easy takedown with about thirty left. Kennedy works from half guard, landing some nice shots from the top position.
