Yeah, you heard that right.
Strikeforce welterweight fighter Paul Daley chose an interesting analogy to describe his impending tilt with the up-and-coming Tyron Woodley during the Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson pre-fight press conference. In his analogy, Semtex cast Woodley as the ill-fated ocean liner RMS Titanic and himself as the antagonistic iceberg which eventually sent the great ship to the bottom of the north Atlantic.
“Woodley is definitely a tough guy and I think Strikeforce has done the right thing building him up. For me, it’s like the Titanic,” said Daley. “They spent a lot of time building you up and putting him in there with me is kinda unpredictable. I’m the iceberg.
“They’ve spent all this time building up this big Titanic ship. He’s all great, gonna be the champion — and no disrespect to Woodley — but I think they think they’ll just stick him in there with a striker and he’s just gonna take him down and hold him there, but I’m gonna pull off the upset. It’s iceberg time.”
That’s right kids: iceberg time. Ready yourselves.
Daley will get his opportunity to sink Woodley tomorrow night at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, where they’ll meet on the main card of Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson. Don’t forget to check back on FightLine.com for our live, ongoing coverage of the event.
