The UFC announced this past weekend that Sam Stout will face Dennis Siver in a lightweight scrap at UFC 137 in October. Stout told FightLinker.com that a victory over Siver should put the eight-fight UFC veteran in the top 10 of the division.
“I think that put’s me definitely top 10 if I beat Dennis Siver,” said Stout. “That’s the way I feel and that’s the way I hope the UFC head honchos see it.
“You don’t make it to that high in the division, highly ranked in the division, if you don’t know how to do everything and he’s definitely shown some significant improvements in his game and he’s a top 10 guy in my opinion.”
Stout is coming off of a “Knockout of the Night” first-round victory over Yves Edwards at UFC 131 last month. Stout said that the victory was like a “dream come true.”
“He’s [Edwards] a guy I watched when I was first getting into this sport, already fighting in the UFC, he’s been around forever,” noted Stout. “Always an exciting fighter, very athletic, very dynamic–he was a guy that I really took seriously as an opponent and to get a big knockout win over him was just a dream come true for me.
“I’ve had some pretty big moments in my career, but this one has the exclamation point on it, that’s for sure.”
While not officially announced by the promotion, UFC 137: St. Pierre vs. Diaz is expected to take place on October 29, 2011 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
