* The Daily Telegraph announced today that Brazilian Renan Barao (26-1 1 NC) will face England’s Brad Pickett (20–5) at UFC 138 in November from Birmingham, England.
“In a huge fight for the Bantamweight title picture, top contenders Brad Pickett and Renan Barao are going to collide in Birmingham,” UFC President Dana White told the Telegraph. “Pickett is one of the very best fighters to ever come out of the UK but Barao hasn’t lost a fight since May 2005. Both guys have verbally agreed to the fight and this is a huge fight for the division.”
The fight will be Pickett’s debut in the UFC after going 3-1 in the WEC. He most recently fought at WEC 53 last December, defeating Ivan Menjivar via unanimous decision.
Barao hasn’t tasted defeat since his very first fight in 2005. He last fought at UFC 130 in May, winning his UFC debut by defeating Cole Escovedo via unanimous decision.
* The UFC announced that middleweights Nick Ring (12-0) and Tim Boetsch (13-4) will face off at UFC 135: Jones vs. Rampage on September 24th. Boetsch is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over The Ultimate Fighter 3 winner Kendall Grove at UFC 130 in May, while Ring is coming off of a submission victory over James Head at UFC 131 in June.
* The organization also announced Joey Beltran (13–5) will face undefeated Stipe Miocic (6-0) in a heavyweight clash at UFC 136 in Houston, TX on October 8th. It is Miocic’s UFC debut, while Beltran is coming off of a thrilling TKO victory over Aaron Rosa at UFC 131 in June.
