The UFC announced today that Chris Leben will face Mark Munoz at UFC 138 in November from Birmingham, England. It is the first non-title fight announced by the organization that will be under the new five-round format for main events.
“Two of the middleweight division’s heaviest hitters will go to war in the UFC’s first ever non-title 5 round main event as the ‘Filipino Wrecking Machine’ Mark Munoz takes on Chris ‘The Crippler’ Leben at UFC 138 November 5th in Birmingham, England,” said UFC President Dana White.
Leben is coming off of a stunning knockout victory over Wanderlei Silva at UFC 132 earlier this month. “The Crippler” has won four of his last five fights, with his only blemish coming in the form of a first round TKO loss to Brian Stann at UFC 125 earlier this year.
Munoz is coming off of unanimous decision victory over former middleweight contender Demian Maia at UFC 131 last month. “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” has won six of his last seven fights, including wins over C.B. Dollaway, Aaron Simpson and Kendall Grove. His last loss was dropping a split-decision to current top middleweight contender Yushin Okami at UFC Live: Jones vs. Matyushenko last August.
UFC 138: Leben vs. Munoz takes place on November 5, 2011 from the LG Arena in Birmingham, England. The event will air on Spike TV the same day, via tape delay.
