Kimbo Slice’s Boxing Debut Opponent Revealed

Boxing promoter and former president of the now-defunct Elite XC promotion Gary Shaw revealed last year that he had plans to promote his former employee Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson in a boxing match. Fast-forward a year later, and Slice is slated to face James Wade (0-1), who lost his debut this past January, at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma on August 13th.

“Just like in MMA, Kimbo Slice is walking around with bull’s-eye on his back. His opponents know they can make themselves known to the world if they can take him out,” said Jared Shaw, Team Kimbo Promotional Advisor. “To Kimbo it’s a pro boxing debut. To James Wade, this is a world championship fight.”

The fight will be a four-round affair promoted by Gary Shaw Productions and Tony Holden Promotions.

Slice was a cast-member on the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter and, though he lost to Roy Nelson on the show, fought twice for the UFC as a result. He defeated Houston Alexander via decision but was then TKO’ed in the second round of a bout with TUF 10 castmate Matt Mitrione, dropping his pro MMA record to 4-2. Slice was cut from the UFC following the loss.

Tickets for the event are priced at $38, $48 and $68 and are available through Buffalorun.com.
