UFC Officially Announces Rashad Evans Vs. Tito Ortiz For UFC 133

The UFC officially announced today a light-heavyweight clash between former division champions Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans at UFC 133: Evans vs. Ortiz on August 6th.

Ortiz is a late replacement for Evans’ original opponent, Phil “Mr. Wonderful” Davis, who was forced to withdraw from the bout due to a knee injury.

Evans and Ortiz have squared off once before, as the two fought to a draw at UFC 73. Ortiz actually outpointed Evans in that fight on all of the judges scorecards, however was deducted a point for holding the cage while defending a takedown. White promised a rematch after that fight, and four years later, the rematch is a reality.

A light heavyweight battle between former middleweight champion Rich Franklin and former PRIDE star Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will serve as the evening’s co-main event. A 185-pound scrap pitting former UFC world champion Vitor Belfort against Japanese superstar Yoshihiro Akiyama will also take place on the main card.

UFC 133 will take place on August 6, 2011 from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. For the most up-to-date card, as well as news and videos for the event, click here to access our UFC 133 page.
