The main card of UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle has received an exciting addition, as it was recently reported that surging lightweights Donald Cerrone and Charles Oliveira will now be squaring off at the event on the top of the card.
The match up was originally relegated to the preliminary card, but was bumped up at the urging of a legion of fans.
Keeping up his rapid-fire pace, Cerrone will face Oliveira in what will be his second fight this summer and his third this year. Since transferring over from the WEC where he had established himself as one of the promotion’s most promising competitors, “Cowboy” has gone undefeated in two UFC fights, having taken out Paul Kelly and late replacement Vagner Rocha.
21-year-old young gun Charles Oliveira carried a ton of hype and an undefeated record until he met Jim Miller in his third UFC bout. The top contender submitted Oliveira with a kneebar in the first round at UFC 124 and then “Do Bronx” had a bout against Nik Lentz — which he was winning handily — ruled a No Contest after it was determined that he landed an illegal knee which drastically altered the outcome of the bout. His record now stands at 14-1, 1 NC.
