Carlos Condit Seeking Rematch With Jake Shields

Carlos Condit has already decided that he won’t be waiting out to face the winner of the upcoming UFC welterweight title fight between Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz, as he’d like to stay more active. However, he doesn’t quite know who he’ll face next, since many of the top fighters in the division are currently recovering from injuries — that doesn’t mean that he isn’t cultivating ideas though.

“One guy that I’ve got my eye on fighting is Jake Shields,” Condit said during a recent appearance on 106.7 The Fan.” I know that he’s slated to fight Jake Ellenberger, but a rematch with Jake Shields would be pretty important to me because that was a loss early on in my career that I would like to avenge.”

Condit dropped a unanimous decision to Shields in 2006 at a Rumble on the Rock show and would like to get that win back, but, at the end of the day, he’ll face whatever contender has an open schedule.

“That’s just one name in particular who’s in the top five who I would like to fight… But, I don’t know when Fitch is coming back, he’s recovering from a shoulder injury, Koscheck is also recovering from an injury, so, I guess it’s just a matter of timing and we’ll see who kind of fits the bill.”
