UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz engaged in an absolute barnburner of a main event over the weekend at UFC 132 against Urijah Faber, a performance which rightfully earned both men Fight of the Night honors.
It was back-and-forth and extremely close throughout and, because of that, “The Dominator” is open to a third go-around with “The California Kid.”
“I’m not gonna turn down a rubber match like that,” Cruz said during a recent interview with MMA:30. “I think that Faber gave me a good fight, he tested me a little bit and I felt like I went through there and still got the unanimous decision. I know I can beat him nine out of ten times.”
At the end of the day, Cruz explained that he’ll fight any contenders that the UFC sees fit to place in front of him and would even be unopposed to moving up in weight and challenging featherweight kingpin José Aldo.
“I’m not gonna turn down anything like that,” Cruz said of a potential superfight with Aldo. “I’m not gonna turn down a rubber match, I’m not gonna turn down a fight with Jose Aldo. Man, if they pay me the right money I’ll fight anybody at heavyweight; I’ll run around like a chicken. …I just want to fight the best guys on the planet. You hear that all the time, but it’s the truth, I just want to fight the best guys on the planet and keep proving something to myself.”
