Charlie Brenneman picked up the biggest win of his MMA career this past weekend by scoring a huge upset over the then-surging Rick Story.
Essentially taking the fight on only one day’s notice, Brenneman defeated Story — who had strung together a six-fight win streak — via unanimous decision in what many are calling the most impressive performance of his career.
Don’t count Diego Sanchez amongst those praising Brenneman’s improbable victory though, as “The Dream” recently explained on Twitter that he didn’t see much to write home about from either Brenneman or Story.
“Watched the fights tonight was not impressed with the welterweights at all!” posted Sanchez.
The Greg Jackson-trained 170-pounder had harsh words to describe Story and Brenneman’s respective skill sets.
“I’m just saying watch the fight neither of them looked sharp in any area blue belt ground game weak GNP wrestling was nit good either,” he wrote.
To sum up his feelings on the fight and both men involved, Sanchez wrote: “Even the conditioning and pace were weak I’m just saying from a technical point of view. Top welterweight’s??? I say not”
