Donald Cerrone will keep the train right on rolling, as he’ll step into the cage for the third time this year in August at UFC On Versus 5 against Paul Taylor.
The UFC has announced that Cerrone will be replacing the injured John Makdessi in the lightweight contest. The nature of Makdessi’s injury is currently undisclosed.
Cerrone will appear in the UFC for the third time against Taylor, having defeated Paul Kelly and Vagner Rocha in his two prior Octagon performances. At 15-3 overall and currently riding a four-fight winning streak, the Greg Jackson-trained Cerrone is rapidly proving himself to be a legitimate force in the UFC’s most crowded and talent-packed division. A longtime WEC staple, the 28-year-old has already earned Fight of the Night honors in the UFC and most recently appeared in action at UFC 131 earlier this month against late replacement Vagner Rocha.
English Team Kaobon fighter Paul Taylor is a nine-fight veteran of the UFC, with a promotional record of 4-5. The entertaining 31-year-old fighter has earned Fight of the Night honors on three occasions and will be looking to earn two wins in a row for the first time since 2006 when he squares off against Cerrone. In his most recent outing, Taylor snapped a two-fight losing streak by taking out Gabe Ruediger via second round knockout at UFC 126.
UFC Live: Hardy vs. Lytle goes down this August 14 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
