Round 1: They touch gloves to start things off and Howard gets off first with a leg kick. Again. And another. They clinch and Brown turns Howard into the fence. Howard catches a body kick, but Brown ends up taking him down off of the position. They’re only down briefly though. Howard really hammering home those leg kicks. Brown with a nice string of punches, followed by a head kick. He over-commits on a knee and gets taken down for his trouble. He gets back to his feet quickly, but Howard stays on him against the fence, working the single. They break and Brown lands a kick and a big knee, Brown turning it up here, dumping Howard to the mat by his heel. Brown looking for the d’Arce choke briefly, but he lets it go. On their feet, Howard gets a big takedown and Howard takes side control. Howard keeps the body lock as they hit their feet again. Thirty to go. Howard gets a brief takedown but Brown rolls right back up to his feet, where he tees off with punches. Great first round.

Round 2: Howard lands another hard leg kick to start the second. He goes in for the clinch, where he looks for the takedown off of the cage. Brown breaks free, but eats a leg kick. He dives for a takedown, but Howard sprawls deftly and they scramble to their feet. Howard looking for the takedown against the cage again. Brown looks for the standing guillotine, but Howard avoids. Howard fails on a takedown and they engage on their feet. Brown lands a very nice trip from the Thai clinch. Howard looks to be fading here, while Brown works from half guard. Brown controlling things from the top, but Howard rolls for a leg and uses the position to reverse and end up on top of Brown. Brown looks for the triangle, but switches to the omoplata. Ten seconds to go and Howard shakes his way out of the hold.

Round 3: Howard throws another of the leg kicks that he’s had so much success with, then another. They both trade kicks up high. Brown hits a double and gets Howard down against the cage. Howard gets to his feet and looks to take Brown’s back. Howard working very hard for the takedown now, but Brown is avoiding for now. As they break, Brown chases Howard across the cage and lands two big knees, then a pair of jabs. Howard goes for the takedown again and gets Brown on his knees against the fence. Howard gets Brown to the mat toward the center of the cage this time. Howard works a kimura until the bell.
