Nate Marquardt Talks Weight Cut, Was Easily Making Weight For UFC Live (With Video)

While rumors continue to spread like wildfire as to the reason why Nate Marquardt failed his medicals, forcing him to withdraw from tonight’s bout with Rick Story and subsequently be fired by the UFC, it appears that the weight cut was not one of them.

The following video from NBC Sports shows Marquardt talking about the weight cut, and the long-time middleweight was well on his way to making weight for his welterweight debut against Story.

Marquardt and his camp will reportedly make a statement on tonight’s pre-game show on Versus at 8pm.

Charlie Brenneman will fill in for “The Great” to face Story at tonight’s event. Brenneman was originally slated to meet T.J. Grant on the preliminary card, however Grant was forced to withdraw last week due to an unknown illness.

UFC Live takes place tonight from the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The main card will air live on Versus in the U.S. and on Rogers Sportsnet in Canada. Make sure to check back here later this afternoon for’s live coverage of the event.
