It was a wild day yesterday, as UFC President Dana White announced in a video message on his Twitter account that Nate Marquardt has been cut from the organization following his withdrawal from his headlining bout with Rick Story at tonight’s UFC Live On Versus 4 event. Charlie Brenneman will fill in for Marquardt to face Story.
“I’m sure you heard that Nate Marquardt is out, it’s true,” White stated in a video on his Twitter account. “He failed his medicals. Not only is he out of this fight and out of the main event on Versus, he will no longer be with the UFC.”
While no official reason has been given for Marquardt’s withdrawal from tonight’s fight, it is known that Marquardt was not medically cleared to fight. Marquardt and his camp will reportedly give a statement on tonight’s UFC Live pre-game show on Versus at 8pm.
