The welterweight match up between British slugger Paul “Semtex” Daley and Brazilian brawler Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos for Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson on July 30th has been cancelled. According to MMAPrime.tv, Santos was forced to withdraw from the bout after injuring his shoulder during training camp.
Another report on MMAJunkie.com noted that the injury occurred when Santos overextended his shoulder when a teammate sprawled after Santos had shot for a takedown. He will rehab the injury for a month, and there is currently no timetable for his return.
Santos was hoping to rebound from a second round submission loss he suffered to current top UFC welterweight contender Nick Diaz in January.
MMAJunkie.com also reports that a replacement opponent for Daley is underway.
Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson goes down on July 30 at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
