Kerry Hatley is back in the center to ref this Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix quarterfinals bout.
Round 1: No glove touch between these two. Rogers lands a nice leg kick, Barnett tries to catch it but can’t. He goes for the takedown anyway and slams Rogers to the mat quickly. He lands in side control and presses Rogers into the fence. Barnett tries to pass to mount and Rogers scrambles, reclaiming half guard. Barnett forces his way into full mount though, with over two and a half minutes to go. Rogers doing his best to scramble away, trying to use his feet on the cage. Barnett holding tough though, maintaining mount and landing strikes when the opportunity presents. Rogers explodes and knocks Barnett off briefly, but “The Baby-Faced Assassin” regains the position quickly. under a minute to go and Rogers has been dominated so far. The crowd is growing restless of Barnett’s smothering strategy.

Round 2: Barnett lands a nice left hook. They clinch and Barnett throws Rogers to the mat, where he quickly gains the mount position again. Barnett looking for an arm triangle. Rogers taps before Barnett even moves out of mount.

Barnett takes the mic from Gus Johnson and addresses the Dallas crowd, doing his best pro-wrestling shtick. It’s pretty damn good, honestly.
