With Jason “Mayhem” Miller off to coach The Ultimate Fighter 14 opposite Michael Bisping, Aaron Simpson will now face Brad Tavares at UFC 132: Cruz vs. Faber 2 this summer.
The UFC recently announced the news on their official website.
Technically undefeated Brad Tavares was a castmember on the eleventh season of The Ultimate Fighter, where he lost in the semi-finals to Court McGee. Since then, Tavares has gone 2-0 in the UFC, taking out fellow TUF 11 castmate Seth Baczynski as well as MMA veteran Phil Baroni. Overall, the 23-year-old Hawaiian is 7-0, with four of those wins coming by way of KO/TKO, two submissions and one decision.
In exhibition bouts from TUF 11, Tavares is 3-1.
After getting off to a strong start in the UFC, taking out his first three opponents, Aaron Simpson hit a two-fight skid by dropping contests to Chris Leben and Mark Munõz. In his most recent outing, the 36-year-old bounced back by taking out Mario Miranda via unanimous decision. Simpson is 9-2 overall and 4-2 in the UFC.
UFC 132 goes down this July 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
