The UFC has announced that go-for-broke featherweights Leonard Garcia and Alex Caceres will likely be facing off this August at UFC on Versus 5 in what will be the UFC’s first trip into Wisconsin.
Both men have verbally agreed to the fight.
Having gone back and forth since his instant-classic UFC debut against Roger Huerta in 2007, Garcia has established himself as a mainstay in the featherweight division courtesy his absolute willingness to throw caution to the wind and go blow-for-blow with opponents. Never in a dull bout, Garcia has gone 1-1 since returning to the UFC after an eight-fight-long stint in the WEC, taking a very controversial decision over Nam Phan and, most recently, losing in a rematch to Chan Sung Jung via the first twister submission in UFC history. That defeat came this past March at UFC Fight Night: Nogueira vs. Davis.
The 31-year-old “Bad Boy’s” record stands at 15-7-1.
Colorful personality Alex “Bruce Leeroy” Caceres was a castmember on the twelfth season of The Ultimate Fighter, on which he was defeated by Michael Johnson in the quarterfinals. Caceres made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night: Nogueira vs. Davis against Mackens Semerzier, to whom he lost via first round via rear naked choke submission.
The 22-year-old sports a 4-3 record.
UFC on Versus 5 will take place on August 14 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
