Normally the UFC heavyweight division’s resident jester, Pat “Hype or Die” Barry took a serious moment recently to address those critics of Brock Lesnar’s who feel that his recent withdrawal from UFC 131 as a result of diverticulitis is some kind of ruse.
Barry took to his Twitter to defend the former heavyweight champ.
He wrote: “TOTALLY OUT OF CHARACTER FOR ME – BUT MY FRIEND HAD A RELAPSE OF SOMETHING THAT ALMOST KILLED HIM AND LEFT HIS WIFE A WIDOW AND KIDS FATHERLESS!”
“HD” even challenged Lesnar’s detractors to meet him face-to-face to discuss the issue.
“AAAAAAANYBODY GOT SOMETHING SH*TTY TO SAY ABOUT HIM DUCKING A FIGHT OR BEING SCARED, COME FIND ME AND I’LL HEAR YOU OUT EYE TO EYE!!”
Barry is scheduled to fight Cheick Kongo at UFC Live: Marquardt vs. Johnson this June 26 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, only a few short weeks after Lesnar was scheduled to face Junior dos Santos at UFC 131.
Lesnar has been replaced in the main event by Shane Carwin.
