Jon Fitch’s Shoulder Surgery A Success

Top UFC welterweight fighter Jon Fitch underwent successful shoulder surgery today to repair an injury he incurred during his February fight against BJ Penn.

The American Kickboxing Academy-trained fighter tweeted a picture of himself in the hospital post-surgery, with the tagline: “Awake and feeling like a million bucks.” Fitch will likely be out of action for four to six months while he recovers from the operation.

Fitch and Penn fought to a draw in the main event of UFC 127 this past February 27 and were expected to face off again this July at UFC 132, but Fitch was forced out of the fight with his shoulder injury. With Penn taking time to address his own shoulder injury, the two could very likely settle the score when they can return to action.
