UFC 129: Ben Henderson Vs. Mark Bocek

Henderson appears pumped up on his way to the octagon, with Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life” setting the tone for his entrance. Bocek looks calm, collected and serious as he enters the arena to the cheers of a hometown crowd.

Yves Lavigne is the third man in the cage for this lightweight bout.

Round 1: The two touch gloves to get things started. Bocek initiates the clinch, but Henderson turns him into the cage, where he gets double underhooks. Henderson lands a nice knee to the midsection, Bocek returns the favor with one of his own. Lavigne separates them, despite an active battle for position against the fence. Henderson with a nice kick. Bocek lands a short right and tries for the takedown, but is stuffed. Henderson lands a nice elbow on the break. Henderson eats an inside leg kick as he moves in with a combination. Henderson fires off a Superman punch-leg kick combination that lands clean. Another nice combination lands for “Smooth.” Henderson working an active jab to keep Bocek wary. Bocek moves in for the single, he eventually gets it but Henderson makes him pay for it, hopping on one leg and punching him in the head repeatedly. Round 2: Henderson lands a good left hand and moves in with a combination, which Bocek ducks under and uses to eventually dump Henderson to the mat. Henderson gets back to his feet almost immediately after threatening with the guillotine. Henderson bullying Bocek on the fence now, landing a nice knee to the head from the clinch. Lavigne separates them again. Henderson lands a beautiful leg kick, avoids a takedown and then lands a trip of his own which puts Bocek on his back. Bocek looking for a leg, but Henderson is making him pay every step with punches. Henderson avoids the sub and lands a knee as Bocek gets to his feet. Bocek drags Henderson to the mat, working a front headlock. Bocek looking for athe anaconda choke, which Henderson avoids, but Bocek has kept his arm under Henderson’s throat. After he threatens with the guillotine, Henderson gets to his feet and blasts knees to Bocek against the fence. Bocek is bleeding heavily from the head and Henderson turns it on at the end. scores the round 10-9 for Henderson

Round 3: Henderson gets taken down off of a leg kick. Henderson establishes full guard. Henderson rolls for an armbar and ends up on top of Bocek raining down some furious right hands. Henderson swinging mean here, as Bocek rolls for a leg. Bocek on Henderson’s back standing, but Henderson gets the underhooks and presses him against the fence right under the halfway mark. Bocek tries for a trip and Henderson makes him pay with a knee before tripping him to the mat. Bocek gets back to his feet, but Henderson takes him right back down against the fence. Bocek dives for a single, “Smooth” sprawls and hits Bocek with a knee as they get back to their feet. Henderson throws a few more good knees to Bocek against the fence, slipping in some punches where he can. They exchange in the center of the cage, with Henderson getting the better of it before getting taken down by Bocek. Ten to go and Henderson gets to his feet, landing knees and punches until the bell. scores the round 10-9 for Henderson

Ben Henderson defeated Mark Bocek via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Henderson is all smiles after netting his first UFC win in his first UFC fight: “I’m ready for everything, Joe.”
