UFC featherweight champ José Aldo will be making the first defense of his newly-named belt this Saturday on the main card of UFC 129: St. Pierre vs. Shields against Canadian fighter Mark “The Machine” Hominick.
Aldo inherited the UFC title as a result of the UFC’s absorption of the WEC, where Aldo had won and defended the belt twice. Now he has the chance to legitimize his UFC title by making his upcoming defense a successful one — which is something he has every intention on doing in order to make good on a childhood dream.
The UFC recently followed Aldo around as he prepares for his first title defense, you can watch both parts below.
UFC 129: St. Pierre vs. Shields will take place in front of 55,000 fans at Rogers Centre on April 30 and will mark the UFC’s first trip into Toronto. Headlined by a welterweight title bout between champion Georges St-Pierre and challenger Jake Shields, the event has already broken all UFC attendance and gate records. As always, we will be providing live coverage of the event here at FightLine.com.
