UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre has one of the toughest tests of his career in front of him this weekend in American jiu-jitsu specialist Jake Shields, though he is still forced to answer questions about a possible superfight against UFC middleweight champ and pound-for-pound king Anderson Silva as a result of the high intrigue which surrounds the prospective bout.
“Rush” recently spoke with Tatame.com about moving up in weight and taking on the dynamic Brazilian.
“I think it’s possible to happen,” said St. Pierre. “It just depends on the outcome of my fight, the outcome of his fight. All they want to arrange the fight, but there’re a lot of details… But I think it could be possible.”
However, like a true champion, St. Pierre explained that he isn’t putting much thought toward anything at this point other than Jake Shields.
“I’m not sure right now what will happen after my fight with Jake Shields. Right now I’m just focusing on Jake Shields, I don’t know about the rest.”
St. Pierre and Shields will meet this Saturday in the main event of UFC 129, which will be going down at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Don’t forget to check back on FightLine.com on the night to catch our minute-by-minute coverage of the event.
