The UFC re-signed Jason “Mayhem” Miller yesterday and today it was announced that the Bully Beatdown host already has an opponent lined up for his return to the promotion.
MMAJunkie.com is reporting that Miller will meet fellow middleweight Aaron Simpson this summer at UFC 132.
Miller rejoins the UFC on the strength of a 24-7 (1 NC) record and has put together a two-fight winning streak since dropping a unanimous decision to then-champion Jake Shields in Strikeforce back in 2009. Partially owing to the suspension he incurred for his role in the infamous Strikeforce: Nashville brawl, Miller has only fought twice since his loss to Shields: once against Tim Stout at the aforementioned Strikeforce: Nashville and then against Kazushi Sakuraba at DREAM 16 this past September; he finished both bouts within the first round.
Miller has appeared once before in the UFC, in 2005 at UFC 52 against Georges St. Pierre in an effort that earned him a unanimous decision loss.
36-year old Aaron Simpson will welcome Miller back to the Octagon, fresh off of a unanimous decision win over Mario Miranda which he scored at last month’s UFC Fight Night: Nogueira vs. Davis. With that victory, Simpson snapped a two-fight losing streak courtesy Chris Leben and Mark Muñoz. The former NCAA Division-1 wrestler sports a record of 8-2, with a UFC record of 4-2.
UFC 132 is scheduled to go down on July 2nd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
