The UFC has added yet another bout to UFC Live on Versus 4 on June 26th. The organization announced today that John “Doomsday” Howard will face Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann in a welterweight collision.
“Verbal agreements are in for a battle between two of the best strikers in the welterweight division as John ‘Doomsday’ Howard takes on Martin ‘The Hitman’ Kampmann,” said UFC President Dana White.
Kampmann lost his second close decision in a row last month when he took on Diego Sanchez at UFC Live 3: Sanchez vs. Kampmann. “The Hitman” and “The Dream” battled back and forth over three very close rounds with Sanchez eventually being awarded the unanimous decision. Prior to that decision loss, Kampmann dropped another hard-to-call split decision to Jake Shields.
Like Kampmann, Howard is coming off of two losses, most recently suffering a unanimous decision loss to Thiago Alves this past December. He also suffered a TKO loss to Jake Ellenberger last August, which halted a four-fight win streak he had garnered in the promotion.
UFC Live on Versus 4 takes place on June 26, 2011, at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The main card will be broadcast on Versus in the U.S. and on Rogers Sportsnet in Canada.
