The Ultimate Fighter season ten runner up Brendan Schaub has put together a four-fight winning streak since losing in the show’s finale to Roy Nelson, via knockout. “The Hybrid” has taken out the likes of Chase Gormley, Chris Tuchscherer, Gabriel Gonzaga, and, most recently, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic. A training partner of top contender Shane Carwin, people are starting to look at Schaub as a man with the makings of a legitimate contender himself, and he recently told MMA:30 that he sees things the same way.
“I think I can beat anyone in the heavyweight division, I can hang with any of those guys,” said Schaub. “Whatever they wanna do, if they wanna pull back the brakes I can understand that, but man, if they wanna throw me into the fire and throw me with the big dogs, I’m ready for that so, I’m fine with whichever way the UFC wants to go.”
The 28-year old former pro footballer isn’t picky though — despite having previously called out the likes of Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira — and believes in his chances against anyone in the division.
“Really, any of them,” Schaub said when asked which top dog he’d most like to face. “I see me having an advantage in certain areas over any of those guys. I think Junior dos Santos and myself would be a great fight on the feet. Any of those guys.”
Schaub’s most recent appearance came last month against PRIDE legend “Cro Cop,” whom he knocked out in the third round of their UFC 128 scrap.
