The Ultimate Fighter Season 11 winner Court McGee (13-1) has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout with Jesse Bongfeldt due to a knee injury. The UFC announced that Chris Weidman (5-0) would be filling in for McGee.
“Undefeated Chris Weidman, who was impressive defeating Alessio Sakara in his UFC debut, has verbally agreed to step in against tough Canadian Jesse Bongfeldt,” said UFC President Dana White.
Bongfeldt last fought at UFC 124, where he fought Rafael Natal to a draw. Weidman made his UFC debut last month at UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann, where he replaced an injured Rafael Natal on just two week’s notice en route to defeating Alessio Sakara via unanimous decision.
UFC 131: Lesnar vs. dos Santos takes place on June 11th from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada.
