MMAJunkie.com today announced that UFC 131 has seen the addition of a new heavyweight contest between Joey Beltran and Dave Herman.
Dave “Pee-Wee” Herman will be making his UFC debut against Beltran, though he has more than twenty professional bouts to his credit. Fighting out of Fort Wayne, Indiana, the 26-year old sports a record of 20-2, with his only defeats coming to Mu Bae Choi (TKO) and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (Disqualification – Illegal Knee). He is currently riding a two-fight winning streak, having defeated Michael Kita and Yoshihiro Nakao.
Herman was originally scheduled to fight Rob Broughton in his UFC debut, but Broughton was replaced by Beltran.
Joey “The Mexicutioner” Beltran is a four-fight veteran of the UFC and sports a promotional record of 2-2. After making his UFC debut a successful one by earning a TKO over Rolles Gracie, Beltran made it two in a row by defeating Tim Hague via decision. From there however, he would drop two contests in a row, both unanimous decisions to Matt Mitrione and Pat Barry. Training out of Alliance MMA in San Diego, California, Beltran’s overall record sits at 12-5. His last appearance came in January at UFC – Fight for the Troops 2 against Barry.
UFC 131 is scheduled to go down on June 11 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
