Brendan Schaub Weighs In On Lesnar Vs. Dos Santos

Brendan “The Hybrid” Schaub is gradually climbing his way up the heavyweight ranks, making his bones so far by fighting the likes of Chris Tuchscherer, Gabe Gonzaga and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic.

His last appearance resulted in a knockout victory over “Cro Cop,” but proved that Schaub still needs time to develop as a prospect before taking on the heavyweight division’s elite.

Regardless, “The Hybrid” still has his eyes on the high-profile bouts in the division, as it may not be very long before he does net the big matches considering how quickly he continues to develop. One such impending match is between former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and top contender Junior dos Santos, which will go down this June upon the conclusion of The Ultimate Fighter 13, where both men are serving as opposing coaches.

Many are already picking dos Santos, a fearsome Brazilian striker, to win against Lesnar by virtue of his crisp boxing and Lesnar’s lack of stand up skills, which were on display in title fights against Shane Carwin and Cain Velasquez — Schaub is no different.

“I think dos Santos is a bad match up for Lesnar unless Lesnar can get his token double leg takedown,” he recently told “I think dos Santos is too skilled on the feet and is quick enough to avoid those takedowns, so I think it’s gonna be a long night for Lesnar.”

Lesnar and dos Santos will square off this June 11 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in the main event of UFC 131.
