Charismatic British brawler Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy dropped his third contest in a row over the weekend, losing a unanimous decision to Anthony Johnson.
The two engaged in a loose gentleman’s agreement before the fight that they would ignore grappling and engage in a firefight standing, but Johnson took the fight to the mat early and often, capitalizing on Hardy’s lack of stalwart wrestling defense to keep the mohawked scrapper on his back for the majority of the bout. “The Outlaw” discussed the disappointing bout through his Twitter account and gave some insight into where he might go from here.
“Feeling very frustrated today. No excuses, sometimes you just dont win,” posted Hardy. “I hate having boring fights though.”
Despite — or as a result of — having lost three consecutive bouts, Hardy is itching to get back on the horse and back to action in the cage.
“I want to fight again,” he wrote. “I feel like Ive been robbed of the reward at the end of training camp.”
For his next appearance, Hardy wants a fight that will allow him to showcase his strengths, an “oldschool shootout with a guy that wants to throw down,” and he already has a man in mind.
“Win in a blaze of glory or go out on my shield. Someone like Mr Lytle…,” Hardy tweeted.
As for his current standing in the welterweight division? Hardy says “records are for DJs,” he’s just looking to fight.
