Phil Davis Explains Origin Of “Mr. Wonderful” Monicker

Undefeated light heavyweight prospect Phil “Mr. Wonderful” Davis faces veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC Fight Night 24 tomorrow night, March 26.

Davis recently explained the origins of his nickname, which he said was not taken from the famous 80’s pro wrestler Paul “Mr. Wonderful” Orndorff, but rather from a different source.

“My nickname- ‘Mr. Wonderful’ – was actually my cat in college,” Davis explained in a recent UFC video. “I was away traveling with my wrestling team and someone stole my cat from my house… and he’s been missing for four years now.”

Despite the beloved cat having been gone for many years, the culprit shouldn’t get too comfortable with the pet, as Davis has plans for the thief.

“I’m going to have vengeance,” joked Davis. “Vengeance shall be mine.”

UFC Fight Night Live: Nogueira vs. Davis takes place from the KeyArena in Seattle, WA this Saturday, March 26th. The main card will be broadcast live on Spike TV at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Don’t forget to check back this Saturday for our live coverage of the event.
