The MMA world can’t get enough speculation over super fights and following light heavyweight wunderkind Jon “Bones” Jones’ dramatic usurping of the throne in that division, people want to see him tested against the best.
The best in this case being UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, who has fought successfully at 205lbs. on more than one occasion. Silva recently spoke with UltMMA about Jones’ big win over his former teammate Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and about whether or not he is interested in moving weight classes to engage in big fights with the likes of Jones and welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre.
“Jon Jones is, I don’t know, amazing. …In my opinion, Jon Jones is the best for this category,” said Silva. “(He’ll be) champion for a long time.”
As for his own desire to change divisions, Silva revealed that he isn’t very interested currently in moving outside of the 185lbs. class, as he still has his hands full defending his belt.
“I’m very happy in my category, I have my problems in my category,” he said. “I don’t have plans (to move up or down).”
