Tim Kennedy On His Status In Strikeforce, Rubber Match With “Mayhem” Miller

Tim Kennedy just took out fearsome Dutch striker Melvin Manhoef at Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson, bringing his record to 13-3 and, as he recently told, establishing himself as one of the best middleweights competing under the Strikeforce banner.

“I think I’m one of the best middleweights in Strikeforce, but it’s up to them to determine who gets the title shot,” Kennedy said.

Sharing a division with the likes of champ Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Luke Rockhold and Robbie Lawler, Kennedy believes that his home division is one of the strongest in the promotion.

“There are a ton of GREAT fighters in my division,” he said. “With the exception of the heavyweights the middleweights are the strongest division in Strikeforce.”

As for who he will face next, Kennedy showed interest when the topic of a rubber match with “Mayhem” Miller was broached–the two both hold a unanimous decision over the other.

“I think a fight with Jason would be a blast,” Kennedy said. “I love fighters that show up to fight, which Jason always does. He’s tough and leaves it all in the cage. Our previous two fights were all-out brawls. It’s not one that I’m begging for but it’s definitely one I would enjoy and I think he would too.”
