It appears that UFC light-heavyweight Brandon Vera will live on to fight another day in the organization.
Vera lost his latest fight and seemingly his place on the UFC’s light heavyweight roster after being out-muscled and out-grappled by his UFC 125 opponent Thiago Silva this past January. Vera went on to call Silva the strongest person he has ever encountered during an appearance on The Ryan Loco Show.
However, Silva’s drug test from UFC 125 returned questionable results after one of his samples tested positive. The Brazilian slugger, who was pulled from his upcoming bout with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 130, has claimed that his second sample tested negative, and his drug screen is still under investigation by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
MMAJunkie.com is reporting that the result of the bout is expected to be changed to a “no-contest”, and Vera is back on the UFC’s 205lb. roster.
Vera does not currently have a fight pending, however is no longer accepting outside bookings. With the result of his fight with Silva being changed to a no-contest, Vera’s record now stands at 11-6 (1 NC).
