Nam Phan Vs. Leonard Garcia Rematch Planned For “UFC Fight Night 24″ is reporting that a featherweight rematch between Nam Phan and Leonard Garcia is being worked toward for the upcoming UFC Fight Night 24 fight card. According to MMAJunkie, the bout has been agreed to verbally with the bout agreements expected to be signed soon.

Phan and Garcia met for the first time early in December of last year on The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale, where the two battled it out over three rounds. Garcia was awarded the split decision over Phan, which ended up being a very controversial move by the judges. So controversial in fact, that UFC president Dana White awarded Phan his win bonus and openly stated that he believed Phan was the clear victor in the fight. Phan also went on the record saying that he believed he won, but so did Garcia, and now the two will have the chance to make a clear statement one way or the other.

16-8 fighter Nam Phan holds black belts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, karate and Quyen Dao. He was a contestant on the twelfth season of The Ultimate Fighter, where he was one of the most highly-touted prospects amongst the cast. He was defeated by razor-thin split decision in the semi-finals by Michael Johnson and went on to make his UFC debut on the finale event for that show against Garcia. A veteran of the game, Phan has spent time in the cage with lighter weight luminaries Josh Thomson, Gesias Cavalcante, and Michihiro Omigawa.

Wild brawler Leonard Garcia is best known for throwing caution and haymakers to the wind in his fights and for being very difficult to finish. The Jackson’s Submission Fighting pupil made his UFC debut long before his fight with Phan, engaging in a barnburner against Roger Huerta back in 2007. He would fight twice more in the promotion, going 1-2 overall before making the drop to featherweight and competing in the WEC. Once there, he earned a shot at the belt by putting away Hiroyuki Takaya and Jens Pulver, though he was submitted in the title fight by then-champion Mike Brown. After that, he would go 2-2-1 before returning to the UFC against Phan.

UFC Fight Night 24 is expected to take place on March 26th at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington.
