Anthony Pettis’ “Showtime Kick” Makes ESPN’s Top Play List

WEC lightweight champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis closed out the WEC’s last show with an absolutely epic off-the-cage kick that likely cemented his victory and earned him a shot at the winner of the upcoming UFC lightweight title fight between champion Frankie Edgar and challenger Gray Maynard.

Pettis’ kick earned him a spot on the ESPN Top Plays List for 2010, coming in at number eight.

The Roufusport team member had a star-making year in 2010, earning four consecutive WEC victories as well as a shot at the UFC title.

“Showtime” defeated Danny Castillo by knockout at WEC 47 to start the year out, then submitted both Alex Karalexis and Shane Roller to keep his streak going. He capped off the year by earning a unanimous decision win over then-champion Benson “Smooth” Henderson.
