MMAJunkie.com is reporting that a heavyweight match up between Brendan Schaub and Frank Mir is being eyed for an early 2011 UFC card.
According to MMAJunkie, the bout could go down at either UFC on Versus 3 this March 3rd or UFC 129 this March 19th.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir has split the results of his last four fights, balancing losses to Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin with victories over Cheick Kongo and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic. Mir endured heavy criticism for his performance against Filipovic, which was marked by an almost total lack of offense until a third round salvo produced a knockout. Mir, one of the UFC’s earliest heavyweight champions, holds a professional record of 14-5.
The Ultimate Fighter season 10 finalist Brendan Schaub has put together an impressive three-fight winning streak since losing in the TUF 10 Finale to Roy “Big Country” Nelson. The former football player has defeated Chase Gormley, Chris Tuchscherer (both by TKO) and Gabriel Gonzaga (by unanimous decision), most recently. His overall professional record stands at 7-1.
The announcement of this fight shoots down indications by UFC president Dana White that Brock Lesnar and Mir could serve as coaches on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter.
