Renato “Babalu” Sobral Focused On Future After Loss To Dan Henderson

After his recent first round knockout loss to Dan Henderson on Saturday December 4, 2010 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri, MMA veteran Renato “Babalu” Sobral says that he is remaining motivated.

In response to his disappointing loss Babalu commented, “I am extremely disappointed in the outcome on Saturday. Losing was not in the game plan and many things depended upon me winning. I let my family, my team, my friends and myself down. And for that, I am sorry. I will take a couple weeks off for the holidays and I will resume my training after the first of the year, hopeful for another opportunity to fight in the not too distant future. I will likewise devote myself to existing (my gym) and new projects that I put on hold in preparation for the fight.”

One of the newer projects Babalu is working on is the continued development of the “Natural Born Fighter”; an online video series (, which, amongst other things, provides viewers with an inside look at training and exercise regimens for professional fighters and others who are simply interested in getting in and/or remaining in shape.

Babalu is also working hard to raise funds for causes close to his heart, one of which is the Healing Tyler Foundation (www. Created by the father of 9 year old Jiu Jitsu player and MMA fan Tyler Ransom — who suffers from Nephrotic Syndrome (a disorder in which the kidney’s filtering systems are damaged) —the Healing Tyler Foundation raises funds that benefits the Nephcure Foundation. The first fundraising event hosted by Babalu will take place on December 18, 2010 at Hooters in Burbank, California. Hooters is donating 20% of all sales during the event to the Healing Tyler Foundation. Guests attending the event are asked to bring new and unwrapped toys for the children the charity supports.

“Fighting is not a choice for me, It is what I was born to do. Sometimes you lose the fight. But, like Vince Lombardi said, ‘if you can accept losing, then you can’t win.’ Losing is unacceptable to me. I will be back soon, back with the vengeance that defines me.”
