Professional boxer James “Lights Out” Toney seems to still be vying for a bid (and likely a payday) in the mixed martial arts arena, despite getting thoroughly dominated and outclassed in his one and only mixed martial arts fight this past August against Randy Couture. Speaking with FightHype.com recently, Toney attacked one of the UFC’s most prominent light heavyweight fighters in Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
“What? Is he mad because I called him an Uncle Tom or because I said Detroit wouldn’t accept him? My boy said ‘Rampage’ stayed in his room and they were in Auburn Hills,” Toney said. “They knew better than to go to the D where I’m from. ‘Rampage’ is still an Uncle Tom and I will go on record and say he is not dumb enough to stand and trade with me. Machida almost knocked him out, so what do you think I would do to him?”
Toney and Couture fought in the co-main event of UFC 118 on August 28th of this year, where Couture easily got Toney to the mat, laid on some ground and pound and then cinched an arm-triangle choke for the first round finish. Even though this was the result of his venture into MMA and UFC President Dana White indicated that Toney was no longer under contract with the UFC, “Lights Out” is still looking to ruffle feathers with the goal of getting another fight in the promotion.
“‘Rampage’ is a black redneck. He better stick to hanging with them white boys and keep my name out of his mouth,” he said. “I ain’t hard to find; sign the contract.”
