Brazilian Chute Boxe product Maiquel Falcao recently made his UFC debut, defeating highly-touted Gerald Harris via convincing unanimous decision. However, for only having been in the spotlight briefly, Falcao is already attracting a lot of attention/controversy.
First, there was the criticism he took for holding onto a submission well after the bell while fighting Harris (a sticky situation considering it was revealed later that the fight clock ended several seconds early) in addition to the negative response he got for basically shutting down all offense in the last round of the fight.
Now, as reported by Fighters Only, Falcao has been arrested. “Big Rig” was taken into custody following an interview with Grupo Brasil de Comunicação; he apparently offered no resistance to police.
While the details to the case are still emerging, it is known that Falcao has been charged with “bodily assault.”
Falcao is currently on an eight fight winning streak and holds an overall professional record of 26-3.
