MMAJunkie.com has learned of some adjustments made to the upcoming UFC 125 fight card, namely that Josh Grispi’s bout against Dustin Poirier has been moved to the preliminary card and replaced by a light heavyweight bout between Thiago Silva and Brandon Vera, which was originally scheduled for the prelim portion of the card.
Grispi was originally scheduled to face UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo in the co-main event of the evening, but Aldo was forced to withdraw from the bout with a neck injury. Poirier was brought in as a replacement opponent and now their bout has been relegated to the undercard.
Vera and Silva are both coming off of losses, though Vera has posted two in a row. Both fighters are coming off of injury layoffs as well, with Silva being forced out of a proposed UFC 117 bout against Tim Boetsch with a back injury and Vera recovering from his March TKO loss to Jon Jones, which left him with a face broken in three places.
The current fight card for UFC 125: Resolution, which is going down January 1st at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, is below:
-Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard for the UFC Lightweight Championship
-Chris Leben vs. Brian Stann
