FightersOnly.com is reporting that another match up is being worked towards for the upcoming February UFC 127 event. Fighters Only’s sources have informed them that a bout between light heavyweights Alexander Gustaffson and James Te Huna has been agreed upon for the card.
Alexander Gustaffson made his UFC debut at UFC 105: Couture vs. Vera in November of 2009, knocking out Jared Hamman in the first round. He would falter in his next bout, against fast-rising prospect Phil Davis–losing to “Mr. Wonderful” via submission. His last performance would see him rebound from the Anaconda choke loss to Davis, as he put on a very impressive performance en route to earning his own submission win over Cyrille Diabate. Fighting out of Stockhol Sweden, he holds a professional record of 10-1.
New Zealand native (fighting out of Australia) James Te Huna made his UFC debut in February of this year at UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez and also put forth an impressive showing, knocking out Igor Pokrajac in the third round. Te Huna is currently on a six-fight winning streak, with his last loss coming via submission (shoulder injury) to Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard. He holds an overall record of 12-4.
UFC 127 is expected to take place on February 27th at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. BJ Penn and Jon Fitch are expected to fight in the main event in a welterweight bout.
