Thiago “Pitbull” Alves is currently scheduled to face John Howard at UFC 124: St. Pierre vs. Koscheck 2 this December. The American Top Team-trained fighter is considered to be one of the top fighters in the UFC’s welterweight division, but he has hit a skid lately–losing two in a row to St. Pierre in a title fight and Jon Fitch in an uninspired performance for which he was unable to make weight.
Drawing the ire of UFC President Dana White and fans alike for not making weight and performing poorly, Alves will be looking to impress at UFC 124. Alves told Forum SL (props to MMAMania for the translation) that the MMA community can expect the very best “Pitbull” come UFC 124.
“This Pitbull of December 11th will be the best ever. I’ve never been feeling so good, I’m more mature and professional,” Alves said. “Everything happens for a reason and God knows how much I want to be the champion. God knows how hard I work to make it. The losses I had happened because I didn’t deserve to win for I didn’t do the correct work to get where I wish (the belt). But I learned and fixed all I had to enhance here at ATT. Now it’s time to stop speaking, get there and show my job. Everything happens for a reason and God knows how much I want to be the champion. God knows how hard I work to make it”.
UFC 124 goes down this December 11th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and will feature a title fight between The Ultimate Fighter 12 coaches Georges St. Pierre and Josh Koscheck.
