Former UFC light heavyweight champion and PRIDE FC superstar Quinton “Rampage” Jackson defeated Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida via split-decision this past Saturday night in the main event of UFC 123. Jackson turned some heads before the fight even started with his walkout, coming to the cage to the old PRIDE FC theme.
Jackson had been talking about wanting to return back to the Rampage from the PRIDE days heading into the fight, and Jackson noted that the music was an homage to that time.
“I remember PRIDE,” Jackson said. “Everyone knew me and loved me. I used to fight for honor and respect.
“Now I come to the UFC, and I make way more money than I did in PRIDE, so I got a little greedy and fighting for the dollars and stuff,” he continued. “So I wanted to come out to PRIDE and get that old PRIDE spirit. I felt like some of it kind of came back. I even tried to slam Machida.”
With the win, Jackson improves his record to 31-8 and bounces back from a decision loss to Rashad Evans earlier this year.
