Speaking with MMAJunkie.com after Saturday night’s UFC 122 event, UFC President Dana White revealed that he is reconsidering the idea of pitting Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar against one another in a rubber match due to a generally negative fan response to the match up.
Following Lesnar’s recent loss to Cain Velasquez, White told MMAJunkie that rumors of a Lesnar-Roy Nelson match up were unfounded and that Lesnar had actually expressed interest in taking on Mir to settle their trilogy. White also thought the idea was a good one, telling MMAJunkie, “That fight kind of makes sense. So, we’ll see.”
An active Twitterer, the UFC head honcho started having second thoughts about Mir-Lesnar 3 over the weekend when fans loudly voiced their aversion to the bout on his official Twitter account.
“People have been saying on my Twitter that they’re not happy with that fight,” White said. “It’s something I need to rethink.”
White has openly expressed his disdain with the MMA media and forum-lead rumor mill, but explained that he takes to heart what his Twitter followers have to say because they truly care about the sport.
“I usually don’t gauge things by the Internet; the internet is [expletive] stupid,” White said. “My Twitter I do. On my Twitter, there are 1.2 million people that care about this thing and everything else, and you don’t get the goofy [expletive] that you get on the Internet.”
Lesnar and Mir are currently 1-1, do you want to see them settle things for good or did the beating Lesnar put on Mir last time around make a definitive enough statement? Get it off your chest in the comments section below.
